Thanks for this reflection and remembrance of the road to Emmaeus. I live in Canada and grieve for my daughter who struggles with a chronic health condition preventing her from having the life most young adults have.
I had hoped that a cruel fascist regime would not take over my country (US) Sorry you are experiencing cruelty as well. Thank you for this meditation...
Thank you for sharing this. I’ve also been feeling heartbroken over the UK government’s decisions and the rhetoric around disability. I was awarded PIP for the first time last year and now likely won’t be eligible when I’m reassessed. It’s hard when so much of life with Chronic Illness is a battle. But you’re right God is with us in this, even when we can’t see Him.
Oh Tanya, I am seeing the same thing here in the States with a long time friend whose husband needs more dementia care than she can give. In California the rules are different than here. And their pensions are in Ohio and between that Governor and what might/might not happen nationally she may not be able to get the services they both need.
Thank you for this, Tanya. I am really struggling with cruelty of this decision. And the verbal attack on the disabled and chronically ill. I will continue to pray, and will use your prayer prompts at the close of your piece. So sad that our government seems to be aligning itself with one we observe with great discomfort. Lord have mercy.😔
I live in the US and am in fear that my daughter's benefits will be stripped away. She is low income and struggles each and every day. We are living through an evil time even though close relatives don't see the evil mainly because they are secure and OK and believe that the lower income people have only themselves to blame which is categorically untrue. Jesus demonstrated over and over again that the people lower than us will be first in the Kingdom so my heart grieves even for those who have enough and are calloused because they also will get their just rewards and probably it won't be pleasant. Jesus does walk beside us especially when times are difficult and he always had a heart for the poor, the sick, those who were rejected by society, and so on. So take heart as I try to do each day. Jesus is with us all the time. All the way. Thank you so much for opening yourself up to sharing.
Gutted here in Canada by 1. the murder of Palestinians, including BABIES, by the rogue Israeli state; 2. the killing going on in Ukraine by the rogue Russian state 3. the dismantlement of government and threats to Canada by the felon in the White House
PS I shouldn’t have tried to say anything—because from my experience, there are no words for the gutted disappointment of this moment for you. Only Jesus.
Wow so on target again. Am very sorry to hear about cuts to UK benefits. Was texting with a friend about feeling the drag of all that’s going on here in the US, and in that realized what we were experiencing was the normal depression of grief. And that the appropriate “response” was lament. Turned on a Pandora Christian station based on songs of lament, and it was so helpful, validating. Essentially your exercise. Will pass on to her and others as well. Please continue all that you do in the midst of this new “gutting.” Thank you for allowing us to grieve with you.
Thanks for your lovely message, Cathy. I also feel a deep grief about America at the moment, and it must be absolutely exhausting to be living there. Thanks for your encouragement.

I am so sorry about your daughter. It is awful to watch your child suffer - a sharp pain through the heart. Thank you for sharing.

I had hoped that for the US too… Grieving with you.

Thanks, Sarah. It is really heartbreaking, the constant onslaught. Sending much love.

That’s so awful. It’s really scary.

Thanks so much for commenting. I can well understand your fear for your daughter - these are dangerous times.
